Past Events....

Get ready for an adventure you'll never forget, in a summer camp like none you've ever visited! Here you'll learn traditional field sports in some of the most stunning scenery in North America. Expert instructors will ensure that you learn it right - and have a lot of fun to boot! We want you to join the dozens of women who say High Country Adventure made their summer special - and the women who couldn't stay away, returning two and three times! Here's a sampling of what to expect:

Fly Fishing

You learn to tie and cast flies from experts, and test your skills against wily mountain trout. Maybe you'll win new tackle at our last-night rendezvous!
Fish aren't cooperating? No matter; it's your style that counts, and what do fish know about style?

Shooting

Learning to shoot well begins with choosing the right gear. We help you do that and will work with you to tune your equipment if you choose to bring it. We teach you how to hit more often with rifle, shotgun, and pistol. You'll learn about the history and operation of firearms; we unravel the jargon in plain English.
You'll get a chance to shoot black powder rifles, just like the mountain men who made this country their home in the early 1800's.

Photography

Want to take eye-popping outdoor photos with simple cameras? We'll show you how to manage light, background, composition, depth of field. There's lots here to catch on film, so bring plenty!

Archery

The bow may be 30,000 years old, but it still fascinates us. The arrow's graceful arc has much in common with the fly-line: it's silent and takes great skill to land accurately. You won't master archery here, but we make sure you know what to practice - and that you have fun! With a little luck, yours won't be the last balloon hanging!

Orienteering

Learn how to use a map and compass, and never worry about being lost again! We'll demystify terms like declination and show you in a team exercise how you can negotiate your way through the woods. Find the last clues in the fastest time, and you'll earn a toast at dinner!
